Which is one of the most recognizable paintings in the world? Maybe you've got your answer already, but my suggestion is

The Mona Lisa

by

Leonardo da Vinci

.
 Enjoy this amazing painting:

Study of a Tuscan Landscape (1473)

Study of a Tuscan Landscape is Leonardo da Vinci's earliest known drawing. I like this style:

The Birth of Venus

The Birth of Venus

The birth of Venus is a famous work of Alexandre Cabanel (1823–1889)http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alexandre_Cabanel, who was a French painter.
It's one of my favorite paintings. It's one of the best examples of the Academic art.

Vincent's Chair

This is the Vincent's Chair (by Vincent van Gogh, of course):

"Vincent Willem van Gogh 138" by Vincent van Gogh - National Gallery (NG3862), London. Licensed under Public Domain via Wikimedia Commons - http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Vincent_Willem_van_Gogh_138.jpg#mediaviewer/File:Vincent_Willem_van_Gogh_138.jpg.
