The future of the forum

The future of the forum

I received a question about the future of this forum. A quote:
Quote
I have a question.
What will happen to this place in the future?
Will it live on or will it die?
I hope it lives on.

I'm going to answer it here because I do believe many of the readers want to know it too. We also hope that this forum will stay alive in the future. It's already 10+ years old. So probably it will survive. :)

Lindy effect
« Reply #1 on: June 02, 2021, 01:14:36 AM »
It's the so called "Lindy effect" :). Lindy effect means that the future life expectancy of some non-perishable things, like a technology or an idea, is proportional to their current age; the longer a period something has survived to exist or be used in the present, it is also likely to have a longer remaining life expectancy. More about it in Wikipedia -- https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lindy_effect.

Oh yeah, and to survive we should be very careful about people who aim to receive more than a simple mod power here. Never give power to unknown people. Trust only close friends and good relatives. Avoid suspisious, questionable members' requests.

This makes some sense. But the motivation behind this question is what makes it more interesting.
I will not write about SEO, but about love, food, UFO, sport, psychology, paranormal and everything else I like.

It will survive as long as there are active posting members..

The active posting members are a good factor. But, to be honest, they're not something that is necessarily for a forum existence. Why so? Because once a forum gets enough content, like every another website (like a blog or a social media) it's one and the same if there are active posting members or there are just visitors/readers/guests. Because in the world of websites the only thing that matters are the visitors.

In a forum like this one, only 1~2 person/persons are enough to keep it alive. All it needs is to have some new content from time to time and to be spamless. Everything else is okay and we'd like to have it (for example more posting members like Delphine) but it's already a luxury. :)

She dislikes Korean food but I don't think she dislikes or hates the Koreans.
PR or PageRank (sometimes: "Page Rank").

1. I think the future of the forum is bright because we have got Delphine here. She is creative and hard-working.

2. I want to be more than just a friend of hers.
The fan is here. 8-)

Or a boyfriend?
But yes.
The future is very bright for this forum.
