When I was in school, I had some classmates, who wanted (and did some) to make up own languages. It was a sort of fun. For them.

 We tried something like this in our primary and middle school time. For example some pseudo-Chinese characters.
 The last time I saw/heard this kind of language was the Minbari language (from "Babylon 5"), which is a fictional alien language.
