With a "growing team and improved equipment", Jagex says it will no longer be
OSRS gold looking for sellers of gold or sources through RWT but as well buyers. Its goal is to cut down the demand, as well as supply.
Jagex has announced that it will be sending "messages to players whom we've found engaging to engage in"RWT" within "the next few hours". "For anyone involved, we'd like to be clear - this is your one or only warning" Jagex added.
Other measures that the developer may think of as punishments for RWT actions consist of wealth removal - basically removing ill-gotten gains from players' accounts at a server level - and possible bans.
RuneScape's PvP feature, which is known as the Duel Arena, will also see more stringent rules enforced. Jagex states that the feature "has been a point of reference for this destructive behavior", and that 38 percent of the bans for RWT action up to this point stem from this particular aspect of the game. It says that already amounts in "thousands of bans every month".
This is why the developer seems to be going with the nuclear option, saying "we're thinking about the long-term for phasing out in the Duel Arena out of RuneScape entirely." In the meantime it will introduce "some short-term measures" to clean up PvP "until our development teams are able to deliver an overhaul that completely takes over the Duel Arena next year."
There will be a cap to the total amount GP, or gold points the players can cheap OSRS GP wager on an event within the Duel Arena. Players will be able to wager "no more than 50m GP per duel". Further rules haven't been defined yet.
