Buy house thread

Buy house

You know how we work here: people search for something, we see that and we open a useful thread/topic about it.

Now I saw that it's a popular search online (buy house), so I start this topic.

I think (and maybe you heard that) it is more sustainable to buy a house than rent one. Why do I think so: in the long term, it's better not to rent, because at the end you don't have anything to show for your money.
I will not write about SEO, but about love, food, UFO, sport, psychology, paranormal and everything else I like.

I had to spent a lot of money (in China) for rent apartments, until my father decided to sell out one of our 2 apartments in Bulgaria and to send me here the money. If he decided to do so earlier, probably I could safe some good money and even to have 1 room more. Because it was a very bad time, when he sold out that Bulgarian apartment (the prices of the property in Bulgaria were low, and in China - high; the result: 3 rooms in Bulgaria for 1 room in China). That's why one of my little (or let's count it as 'a middle' :) ) dreams is to have a bigger apartment (at least 2 or 3 rooms, i.e. 50 to 70 sq. metres, that big).

Here, houses are expensive. The housing bubble helped that happen.  So much so, that now rents are outrageous as people have to live somewhere. It was always recommended that you spend no more than 1/4 of your income on housing. That's not possible due to the competition for rentals.  According to a survey there is no place in the US where you can work one minimum wage job at full hours and meet that no more than 1/4 of your income.

Personally I haven't rented in a long, long, time. At least 30 years or more. I've owned rather than rented. I just couldn't see putting money into rent with no return at all beyond having a roof over one's head.
