whats working in SEO? I feel as if every time I use forums, blog comments, directories, and article submission, my keywords get worse in SERP. Any one with a similar opinion and what can we do different?

Maybe you make it over-optimized and the Search Engines don't rank you well. If you share some concrete scheme of own SEO here, I can think where is the problem. Now, all I can, think is that maybe you over-optimized it. Avoid it, because the over-optimization leads to penalties, as I know.

Google have no plan to stop changing the algorithm and they definitely aren’t going to stop fighting spam. So right now more than ever before; you need to focus on creating high quality content and you need to focus on white hat-ish SEO strategies.

I really hope that it's not the only black hat method (bounce rate related) I think about. I know it's a pretty dirty method and it's not helping your site, it's just potentially causing different level of negative SEO for another/others websites. You know the rule: "Don't be evil!" Only white hat and green hat, please!
