Oh, don't be so sure. This algorithm is too important to be "no use" (useless). Which is better: 1. A site with 7438 quality backlinks, 2. Another site with 20 quality backlinks, 3. A site without any links.?

Page rank is nomore available in SEO strategies, but yes you can analyze domain authority and page authority of the website. It is not same as PR but yes do have different parameters to measure and work on.
It varies website to website.
