It is considered the largest island in the Mascarene group in the Indian. The island is 63 km long and 45 km wide and is a part of the European Union. The island is home to two distinct volcanoes: Piton de la Fournaise (furnace Peak), rising more than 2,611 m above sea level and the 3,072 m high Piton des Neiges (Snow Peak). The slopes of both volcanoes are heavily forested.

Climate

The island experiences a relatively temperate tropical and humid climate and is characterized by two seasons. The hot and humid summer lasts from December to March with an average temperature varying between 18℃ to 33℃ on the coast. Winter is from April to November with temperatures ranging between 16℃ to 25℃ on the coast. The island is occasionally affected by the cyclone season which runs between December and February. The ideal time to visit the island is probably in winter, when the trade winds keep the island moderate.

People

The Portuguese were the first Europeans who visited and settled on the island. Main Beaches: The White Beach and The Bulabog Beach

Boracay's two primary tourism beaches, White Beach and Bulabog Beach, are located on opposite sides of the island's narrow central area. White Beach faces westward and Bulabog Beach faces eastward. The White Beach

The Bulabog Beach

This beach comes alive during the early months of each year when windsurfers skim through its waters. It is also known as the windsurfer's paradise. This is the island's secondary tourism beach. This is a 2-km long beach where you can also find some nice hotels and resorts, but it is only quieter and less developed area. This is where most of the water sports activities are done, like kiteboarding and windsurfing, jet skis, parasailing, and other famous water sports activities. Forming part of the Windward Islands in the eastern Caribbean, the archipelago of St. Vincent and the Grenadines comprises the main island of St. Vincent, locally called the 'mainland' and over 30 smaller islands and cays collectively called the Grenadines, each with its own tantalizing attractions. Tokelau Islands

No large hotels, stores, restaurants, no hustle and bustle of a city life, just miles of sand, turquoise water, plenty coconuts, the sun always smiling and happy, friendly people. This is what Tokelau means. This outer-island Polynesia is at its finest welcoming people seeking a relaxed, tranquil leisure by the sea.

Tokelau is a Polynesian word meaning "north wind". Its origin is connected with the fact that sailing ships could get to Tokelau only when the north wind blew, which is very rare in these latitudes.

Tokelau is a dependent territory of New Zealand located in the Pacific Ocean between New Zealand and Hawaii. Tokelau comprises three atolls - Atafu, which is the largest city on the islands, Fakaofo and Nukunonu.

The atoll of Atafu consists of 42 islets. The inner lagoon of the island is rich in fish and crustaceans, which makes it an enjoyable place for diving and snorkeling. A warm welcome and friendliness of the locals, their unique music and dance rituals, customs and cuisine, language and history will be welcoming the tourists visiting this atoll.

The atoll of Fakaofo consists of different small islands, most of them covered with lush coconut palms. The shores of the islands are quite varied - in the south and west there are not too many shallow beaches of pure white coral sand, while many northern and eastern parts are covered with coral sand. The lagoon water is very pure, so right from the shore blue caves can be seen, fringed with coral array of fantastic shapes, which flit among colorful tropical fish. With its rich underwater flora and fauna it makes a wonderful place for diving.

Atoll Nukunonu also has a wonderful lagoon dotted with numerous small reefs and full of small fish. Alternatives to snorkeling or fishing here can be different trainings of climbing palm trees without the aid of technical devices - a rare skill, to be up to a height of about 15 meters trunk of the palm, which is absolutely smooth and has no branches. The rest of your time in Nukunonu you can just lie on the numerous beaches of all shapes and sizes, stretching along the perimeter of the lagoon, or take lessons of traditional canoeing. Extreme lovers will not be disappointed, as at this atoll fairly unusual methods of marine fisheries have survived: only in this region can be seen fishing of sharks "by a bag" (a bag of blood-soaked canvas is just thrown into the water, and when a predator begins its attack, they fearlessly jump into the water and wind the fish head with that bag, depriving it of the ability to move and breathe), or an octopus fishing "on a jug" (tied to a rope a ceramic vessel with a narrow neck filled with scraps of fish is lowered into the water. When the octopus creeps to eat its usual delicacy, it cannot get back any more). Many of the inhabitants of the atoll will show the ancient art of "kilikiti" (a sports game, a sort of cricket), or "games with fish", when using special techniques and devices a gaggle of reef fish gathers, demonstrating the visitors here all the same "tricks" that we used to see in the circus ring. And, of course, here you can find plenty of excellent dive sites.

The Luana Liki Hotel in Nukunonu is the only hotel and public eating center in Tokelau. Many tourists would just choose staying with some of the islanders, asking them in advance. The wonderful tropical weather gives the opportunity to visit the islands of Tokelau any time of the year and have a wonderful pastime here.

Tonga Island

Tourists, who love to admire wonderful nature of an island and have a crazy, active rest at the same time, should make their travel destination Tonga. Tonga is an island located in the south-western Pacific Ocean, stretching from north to south between the islands of Samoa and New Zealand and from east to west between the Cook Islands and Fiji. Tonga consists of more than 160 islands, the largest and most important of them being the islands of Tongatapu, Vava'u and Ha'apai.

The nature of Tonga is very distinctive. On these volcanic islands many orchids and hibiscuses can be found, which give the landscape of the island a special, easily recognizable flavor. The most common tree in Tonga is the coconut palm tree, represented here by more than two dozen species. The fauna is also very diverse and interesting: the largest animal is the flying fox. There are about 30 species of birds in Tonga, like pigeons, parrots, corncrake, herons, ducks, and frigates. The rich underwater world off the coast of Tonga, with hundreds of species of fish - from the colorful coral fish to sharks will always attract fans of diving. Diving in these waters is considered an exotic pleasure, even for experienced divers because of the great depth of the surrounding waters. Tonga's coral reefs are among the most beautiful ones in the world. Sixty miles south of the island of Tofua the main volcanic islands of Tonga are situated. It is like a real miracle to see a ridge of underwater volcanoes continuously active, continually giving birth to new islands and destroying some of them at the same time. There are several reservations, which protect coral reef ecosystems and the reefs themselves.

Tonga is a real paradise for fans of outdoor activities. Here you can descend into the caves (including submarines) on Tongatapu, Vava'u and Eua, explore the underwater caves of Ha'apai, make an ascent on foot on any of the volcanic cones of the western group, or take a canoeing or kayaking tour to the reef areas around the islands (especially around the protected waters of Ha'apai). Surfing here is as good as in any Pacific island. At any time of the year a good wave can be found at Ha'apai and Vava'u. If you choose Tongatapu, perfect places for surfing can make Haatafu Beach and Niutoa Beach.

Tongan waters are also excellent for sport fishing. Here, next to the reefs, there are abundant shoals of barracuda, tuna, marlin and other fish. The reefs themselves are practically teeming with numerous species of fish.

One of the main features of the islands is watching the migration routes of whales passing along the western shores of Tonga. From June to November along the eastern coast of Tongatapu and Ha'apai, and from July to November along the Vava'u coasts large herds of these sea giants catch the tourists' attention. At this time of year, thousands of fans of nature gather together on the shores and cliffs of Tonga. The underwater microphones record the voices of whales and dozens of boats, canoes and catamarans come up the water surface, right from where tourists can dive under the water exactly in the middle of the whale herds.

Fans of festivals, dancing and music will not be disappointed as there are numerous gay and colorful festivals organized in Tonga. The Pacific Festival "Blue Vava'u" is held in February, accompanied by the widest range of different events, including the diving competitions, "In search of treasures", triathlon and Cultural Fair. In March, at Nuku'alofa traditional triathlon competitions take place. There are many other traditional music festivals of the island, fascinating many tourists by their music, dancing and fun.

According to a local tradition, each visitor presented with a gift of roast suckling pig, but still the world-famous watermelons are the most delicious ones in Tonga.
