Shennongjia

Shennongjia is situated in western Hubei Province, covering an area of over 3,000 square kilometers. The special terrain here creates a warm and humid climate, making it a paradise for plants and animals at the meeting point of North and South China.

　　Known as "The Oriental Botanic Garden" and the natural gene bank of biological species, it shelters some of the world’s rare or endangered plants and animals, such as Chinese dove trees, South China tigers, white bears and white snakes.

　　Shennongjia is the "Sacred Green Land" in people's minds, where a primitive natural ecology is well preserved. In 1986 with the approval of the State Council, Shennongjia became “The National Nature Reserve of Forests and Wild Animal Species”.

　　In 1990, UNESCO accepted it into the protection network of "Man and Biosphere". In 1992, it was selected as the "Demonstration of Natural Reserve of Bio-diversity" by the United Nations Development Program.

The tourist resources provide an array of attractions: the primitive forests, mountains and valleys, brooks and waterfalls, rare animals and plants, as well as the mysterious “wild men”. A trip to Shennongjia can be done with various focuses: scientific research and study, adventures, sightseeing and holidays, as well as skiing and snow fun.

　　There are over twenty major scenic spots in Shennongjia, including Fengjingya, Hongping Valley, Shennong Top, Source of Fragrant Brook and Dajiu Lake.

　　Shennong Top, known as the first peak in central China, is 3105.4 meters above sea level, where traces of ancient floods can still be seen through the mountain top, the slope, the uneven surface, the exposed huge rocks, and many pebbles.

Ili in Xinjiang, China

It’s not Provence in France, It’s Ili in Xinjiang, China.

When talking about lavender, the two world-famous lavender producing places may just pop into your mind – Provence in Southeast France and Furano in Hokkaido, Japan. However, Provence and Hokkaido are a bit far for me. And there is another home of lavender that takes up 3,000 sq mi in Northwestern China. It has been called – Ili (Yili in Pinying).

There is a saying that you’ve no idea of how large China is until you go to Xinjiang and you shall not know how beautiful Xinjiang is without going to Ili.

The climate of Ili is similar to Provence. And its lavender fields is about 90% of the total lavender planting area in China. Every July, Ili will just become a sea of lavender!

The Crystal blue sky is hanging over waves of purple lavender. And the white poplar is the symbol of Xinjiang.

I thought heaven is somewhere far far away, but it turns out that I am actually in heaven…

Bled Island – Slovenia's Fairy Tale Isle

Bled Island is the only natural island in Slovenia, located in Lake Bled. On the island there are several buildings, the biggest one is the Assumption church, with 99 steps and up to 52 meters tower.

Bunaken, Indonesia

Watkins Glen State Park, New York

Simplicity-- Conceptual transparent house

This conceptual home is part of a unique collection named Simplicity, created by Italian duo Carlo Santambrogio and the designer Ennio Arosio. The concept is based on a transparent shape – a glass house – combined with other glass elements – a kitchen, bathtub, bed, etc – which seem to be as one with the structure itself. All furnitures are transparent. It's a project in glass with an exclusive character that allows unique pieces to integrate with all environments of daily life.
