Did you know it? The Russian matryoshka dolls has Japanese origin. In a nutshell: The first Russian matryoshka doll set was carved in 1890 by Vasily Zvyozdochkin, designed by Sergey Malyutin. They are Russians,
but were inspired by a doll from
Honshu island of Japan. This is the original matryoshka set by Zvyozdochkin and Malyutin, 1892:
