  I understand what you mean. Well, it's simple, but it's not so easy.
1/ You need unique content.
2/ You need interesting content.
3/ You need some good On-page and Off-page SEO

 Shortly: use SEO and Non-SEO tactics.

Completely agree with the above post. You have to consider above three steps as crucial and follow it very strictly. Damn sure you will have a positive response.

Well mate link building do help in improving page rank but it's not the only way to improve it. There are lot other things a search engine algorithm consider while assigning page rank to each and every pages or website.

Nor only content nor only images work in SEO. Both have equal importance content can be read by search engine and the images help the visitors to watch and understand what exactly the content is about.

If you have a fresh content only then you have a chance to create link wheel or Web 2.0 properties. In link wheel the major benefit is different web 2.0 sites will point to inbound website with fresh content. Every web 2.0 website will have 2 outbound link one point to next web 2.0 website and one will point to optimization website.

Link building is beneficial either it is dofollow or nofollow. There are other search engine which do consider nofollow as backlink. Even the google crawls and consider it as backlink. The only disadvantage of nofollow backlink is PR Juice.

As per my experience I suggest to go for Google Analytics for free tool. If you are looking for paid there are many other tools available.

What ever you think but I don't think it is good idea to have two home pages. We even have to consider 301 redirection to optimize website.

Yes I do agree that Page rank do matters but it is not only the hurdle to pass in google to be on top. There are several other things to be consider while getting on top in major search engine.
