When your website is pennalized by Google, your website and the contents on your website will be lowly ranked. Lower ranked website and contents may never be found by the visitors, which results in loss of Google traffic. Google penalizes website for various reasons and using black hat seo is one of them.

-> The term Canonicalization can be tough to understand. Let me try to explain this in simple terms.
Let’s say there are two URLs of a website:

http://thewebpage.org
http://www.thewebpage.org
-> Both of those pages show content, and none of these pages redirects to any one of them. This can result in duplicate content issue on Google, and you can face penalties.

Let us see one more example. There are two URLs on a website that result in the same page resolution.

http://thewebpage.org
http://thewebpage.org/index.php
If both of these web pages show the same result, then this might cause an issue as well!

You might not pay much attention to this issue, but this might result in serious duplicate content penalties. The problem with search engine bots is that they can’t decide which version of the URL they should add in their index. If two pages are resolving the same content, they will just assume one copy is a copy of the other and your website will get penalized.

If your site is opening on 2 URLS showing the same content, then you must fix it. You must use server settings so that whether a user opens with www or without www, the site will open on any of the one version. In this way, you can fix the canonicalization.
Though, at times you would like to share same content on two URLS, then you can use rel=”canonical” tags to let search engine know that which is the original and which one is a copy of it. This can save you from duplicate content penalties.

-> How to correctly apply URL Canonicalization?
Take an example, there are two URLs on the website that result in the same content when they resolve. These two URLs are:

http://thewebpage.org
http://thewebpage.org/index.php

-> HTML Canonicalization

The second URL results in the same content as the first URL. They are both displaying the same page and hence you can apply the rel=”canonical” tag, in this case, to indicate that the URL with index.php is a Canonical URL of the first one.
This is how it is applied.

<link rel=”canonical” href=”http://thewebpage.org/index.php”>

SEO / Re: How can I implement "Google Tag Manager" to my website?
« on: November 10, 2017, 11:43:11 AM »
Go to tagmanager.google.com to create an account (or to access an existing account).
-> Create a container for your site in the account.
-> Add the container snippet to your site.
-> Migrate any hardcoded tags (such as AdWords or DoubleClick tags) from your site's source code into Tag Manager.

SEO / Re: How many SEO techniques do you know ?
« on: November 10, 2017, 11:39:54 AM »
SEO is not a fixed science to have X number of techniques.I can divide into 3 technique:

-> What we should do : White Hat

-> What else can be done : Grey Hat

-> What we should avoid : Black Hat

There's a number of techniques and trick we can do  in each one of these categories, but it actually depends on the website and the business it is in. What I mean to say is that SEO is a customized solution, there's no holy grail that "One fits all" type.

A topic sure to make any SEO neophyte's head spin, approaching and handling pagination can seem a daunting prospect at first. ... In a very basic sense, pagination occurs when a website segments content over the span of multiple pages.

SEO / Re: Establish a difference between PR & SERP.
« on: November 08, 2017, 12:31:43 PM »
Both terms are used in Digital marketing industry
-> PR: Stand for page rank, that measure by the quality of that page on the web. It can be increased by the building more links, domain age and many other SEO factors. Today PR is mostly dead, as Google stop considering it for search result and start focusing on domain authority, page authority and root domains.
-> SERP: Stand for search engine result page. When we search anything in search engine (Google) the search result page are called SERP. it may be 1 or 10 or more.
-> PR: Also stand for press release, where someone individual or businesses can post their news like product and service launch ect.

SEO / Re: what is real time algorithm? Explain briefly?
« on: November 08, 2017, 12:29:06 PM »
GooglePenguin 4.0 is officially part of Google's Core Algorithm, according to an official statement given by Google on September 23, 2016.

Its a real time algorithm that works much faster when compared to its old versions and it affect only the webpages that contains unnatural links and not the entire website. Since it is real time, it shows a quick impact when you work to remove the unnatural links in your website.

The websites that has unnatural links, paid links or backlinks pointing to low authority domain will be affected and their search ranking will drastically drop.

SEO / Re: Should we submit ror.xml in own website?
« on: November 02, 2017, 01:23:47 PM »
Would you care to explain a bit more? The standard followed by the major engines it is sitemaps and I don't really know anyone that uses ror.xml. So to the question "should we use ror.xml these days?" I would probably answer "no".

I never cared about it so the information I have about ror.xml is basic and you can find it on Google. I don't know how we can be of any help.

SEO / Re: How can you optimize a website having 2 lakh pages?
« on: November 02, 2017, 01:13:05 PM »
If I understand your question , you are asking how to “optimise” your website more than marketing it , anycase let me break this in 2 part, optimize and than market.Evidently like be below have mentioned , we assume its an eCommerce store and also you are not really having the 2Lakh page but its a CMS ecommerce platform. If for any reason the above 2 assumptions are not valid, than i think you have a large complex and manual project/process in hand.

To optimize for performance , in a typical ecommerce site all product pages and many other pages as well, will be rendered from db , so below are some points

global image compression must be setup at the platform level
all style and scripts consolidated and minified
the above two should take care of must of the performance
please ensure you dont have any complex URL redirections or zoning this will kill
Next is the 3 important items in optimisation,
-> Crawling : Google webmaster needs to index your main site URL
-> Product feed : For all product pages you will need to publish them on merchant console (you dont need to really index them on webmaster for each product)
-> Sitemap : Ensure sitemap is structured for main pages and while product pages should not be robot restricted , it need not be on the sitemap per say.
Well the above is written with some assumptions and also from my extensive experience dealing with many eCommerce and large site.

I may have (surely) missed a few items but the above should cover the most important ones for starters. All the best.
