My first dollar was from Elance, I got a web design job for 290 dollars, customizing a WordPress template, I was really very happy and went the extra mile to please the client.

1500 dollars monthly is no big deal, you can get that but it will be a little hard in the beginning, but don't give up. I have worked in Odesk and I like it, very user friendly and I recommend it.

web 2.0 properties are still useful but the content must be original, and once you create them, build links pointing to the web 2.0 properties to give them power.
