nofollow is an HTML attribute value used to instruct some search engines that a hyperlink should not influence the link target's ranking in the search engine's index. It is intended to reduce the effectiveness of certain types of search engine spam, thereby improving the quality of search engine results and preventing spamdexing from occurring in the first place.

 Hello,

A no follow back link is opposite to a do follow back link. No follow links prevent search engine's spiders to crawl the link. So, if you are getting a back link from a no follow site, it does not pass the link juice. No follow links prevent web spiders to crawl the link only humans will able to follow the link.

Do follow is an opposite to no follow link. Do follow link gives us link juice and back link. It tells search engines to navigate on the specific link. Do follow links are useful in bringing search traffic where no follow brings referral traffic. Do follow links are too much helpful to improve a site's PageRank.

Thanks and Regards

Richard Smith

Dofollow links are the ones that pass the link juice but that does not mean nofollow links are useless, there are still some that are authority sites like Facebook and Twitter.

Actually the search engines handle nofollow differently. Google will not follow the link, assign PR to it, or give it weight in its algorithm. Yahoo will follow the link but give it no weight in their algorithm. MSN says they won't give the link any value but it is hard to confirm exactly what they're doing.

Dofollow Link is a hyperlink that is able to tell all search engines to pass along it’s page rank influence to an outbound link.

Nofollow
Link is exactly the opposite. It is a hyperlink that removes the ability to pass on it’s page rank status to other sites.

If you  get dofollow link then search engines will count your link in the eyes of google, yahoo, bing etc as backlink for your site and you can get some positive value for your site ranking. and Nofollow are for not crawling a link by search engine that influence the ranking of a particular website or blog in search engines. That is the primary difference between dofollow and nofollow

Dofollow: The search engine spam indexing and to improve the search engine results. Only Dofollow links pass link juice to the linked webpage and influence the target’s page rank.
Nofollow: Nofollow means probably it’s a link is set as nofollow, it means Google bot won’t crawl the link and won’t pass any link juice.

Links that points to the another site are called do follow links. These links are helpful to increase page rank in search engines.

No follow links does not point to another site. These links are not helpful to increase page rank in search engines.

In dofollow, crawling a website through google bots external links passed to the other links. on the other hand in nofollow, will not get deeper into crawling and no link juice is passed.
