A contextual link is the link in which a clickable text is made up of a keyword word or phrase you want to obtain.

For example, a clickable text-link with the word "tree" which is linking to a forest website.

In other words: it is just a type of link that's usually found within the body of content (i.e. the body of the text) and is in context with the sentences and words surrounding the link. It can be:

a/ natural (voluntary links from other websites)

b/ artificial (as a part of your SEO linkbuilding strategy).
