Treviso, Italy

Treviso, Italy

The hometown of Pope Pius X-- Treviso is a small town in the northeast of Italy. It is not as well known as Rome, Florence, Venice, and the information is difficult to find. But it really is a quiet, laid-back town filled with elegant taste everywhere and carefully protects the cultural heritage. Treviso is just half an hour from Venice, you can go through the canal, but it is more convenient to take the train. Those who have been there say, from Venice to Treviso, it is like one world to another world.

One of the origins of "tiramisu" is Travieso. In the local publicity, famous for Canal and murals , Travieso must be added "tiramisu".

Treviso is a city to discover on foot, its charm can be witnessed by passing under the arcades of its major streets or in the thousands of alleys that wind around in the medieval part, or by following the canals that cross and around the city. Treviso bewitches visitors with its sense of hospitality and love of life, which can be felt everywhere in its fashionable restaurants, bars, shops, squares and cultural spots.

Hyde Park, London
« Reply #541 on: May 18, 2013, 10:34:35 AM »

Hyde Park, London

Hyde Park is one of the largest parks in London. It covers an area of 350 acres (4000 hectares) and is popular with Londoners and visitors, especially on a sunny day. With a lake, 4000 trees, a meadow, horse rides and more, its easy to forget you are in the center of London.

In 1851, Queen Victoria for the first time held International Fair here in London. Since then, the park was formally open. The beginning of the 19th century, Hyde Park became the meeting place of the British. In the northeast corner of the arch side stocked with a "speakers corner", neither pulpit, there is no lighting, speakers bring their own equipment. Every Sunday speakers publish a variety of political views, the diversity of content, some about the views on some international issues, as well as the publicity for a particular religion and art.

Attractions within Hyde Park

The Serpentine. A river and lake where you can go boating and even swimming

Speakers Corner. Located in the North East  corner of Hyde Park this is an area famous for public speakers. Visit on a Sunday morning and you can be sure to see and  hear all kinds of speakers.

Diana Fountain. A water memorial to Princess Diana.

Kensington Gardens. This is technically a separate park but it is located right next to Hyde Park.

Bath, UK

Bath, UK

Known for its restorative wonders, Bath was once the home of Jane Austen. The first thing that strikes you when you arrive in Bath is its beauty – the city has over 5000 listed buildings and has been nestled in a sheltered valley between the Cotswolds and the Mendips since 43AD, when the Romans chanced upon the naturally occurring hot springs and decided to build themselves a place to relax and bathe in between building their empire and fighting the locals. Fast forward a couple of thousand years and my girlfriend and I headed to Bath for a weekend of modern day relaxation and bathing.

Here, you will never feel a sense of urgency in the city, everywhere you can feel relaxing .

Hobart, Australia
« Reply #545 on: May 29, 2013, 04:22:35 PM »

Hobart, Australia

Hobart is the capital of Tasmania, Australia, and the country’s second-oldest capital. It oozes rugged, laid-back charm, but also boasts a lively atmosphere, with hip restaurants, bars and cafés. It’s also a city of firsts—Hobart is home to Australia’s first legal casino, and houses the country’s oldest theatre. Hobart marks the finish line of the annual Sydney to Hobart Yacht Race (also called the Bluewater Classic), which is considered to be one of the most difficult yacht races in the world.

In Hobart, elegant, fresh and pleasant scenery as well as lively markets make a feeling home.

I heard about it. Tasmania is an island, an Australian island. And I heard about the Hobart, too. Thanks for reminding me about it.  :)

Salzburg, Austria

Salzburg, Austria and in particular, Salzburg’s “Old Town” (Altstadt) has internationally renowned baroque architecture and one of the best-preserved city centres north of the Alps. It was listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1997. The city is noted for its Alpine setting.

Salzburg was the birthplace of 18th-century composer Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. His mother was born at St Gilgen on the Wolfgangsee and his father in Augsburg. In the mid-20th century, the city was the setting for parts of the musical and film The Sound of Music.http://www.backpackingtips101.com/best-cities-to-visit/central-europe/salzburg-austria/

Shipshewana, U.S.

Shipshewana, U.S.

The towns in United States of America are all beautiful, but have their own characteristics. The town Shipshewana is located in Indiana, Amish tribe neighborhoods. They retain the 17th century European rural culture and easiest simple lifestyle.

Amish reject modern science technology and lifestyle. They have no electricity, no phone, no TV. They use carriage without cars. They weave on their own, do not wear modern clothing. Women wear one color old type dress with white aprons and cap; men can only wear dark pants, a vest, and a straw hat.

Dunster, England

A garden-like old town in England. Drinking a cup of coffee, reading a book, relaxing in the sun, the life is so cozy here.

Cape of Good Hope

Cape of Good Hope. It is like a sharp sword-line submarine, crossing the end of Africa, dividing the Atlantic and Indian Oceans. People can not help thinking of the movie "2012" , the end of the film is to reach the Cape of Good Hope. But also because it represents a new hope and a beginning of a new world. As a sign of Africa, Cape of Good Hope is a must-see place for every African travel enthusiasts.

Taos, New Mexico
« Reply #553 on: July 07, 2013, 01:55:57 PM »

Taos, New Mexico

Taos is one of the most stunningly situated small towns in North America, set on a high-desert mesa in the shadows of the 13,000-foot-high Sangre de Cristo mountains. A historic arts colony that retains its creative spirit today, this diminutive town of about 6,500 has long been favored by bohemians, free spirits, progressives, and gays and lesbians. Funkier and with far more affordable places to eat and stay than Santa Fe, Taos is a fantastic destination for hiking, biking, photography, and white-water rafting during the warmer months, and it's a terrific ski town in winter.

The magazine says the charm of Taos centers around tourists and other outdoor enthusiasts packing the plaza of the old adobe town, along with its many galleries and museums steeped in a deep Hispanic and Native American past.

Guilinyang, Haikou, China

Guilinyang, Haikou

My husband and I went to the town nearby named GUILINYANG the day before yesterday. It's a beautiful place but still not very developed. But it will be a very nice place for travel because many new nice hotels will be built near the beautiful seaside. And there is a university area but we did not visit.

The sea is beautiful and the beach is very long with fine sand. But it is not very clean because it is not made for people to enjoy the pretty scene.

Anyway, in front of the beach, we can see it was very popular before. We still can see the deserted hot spring-the trees already grow up in the pool, and some disused BBQ restaurants, broken huts. And you see, there are some chickens on the seaside~~

It's a training base of windsurfing for a sports school. Also some travelers are swimming in the sea. I think it's dangerous for them.

We saw a man collecting some on the beach near the water. Then I saw the very small shells he left on the beach. I just cannot guess what he collects these small shells for. Just cook to eat or keep them to grow up and then sell out?

There are many different shapes from sand on the beach. Maybe they are built by some animals~
