Russians are very successful in its education of science and engineering proven by the fact that America and China put Russian scientists and engineers on pedestral as well as its history!
If you want to advance your knowledge of science and engineering, I highly recommend you to read their textbooks! But, their textbooks are very hard to toil through, so if you are inable to grasp hard materials, Russian textbooks, as though very good they are, are not apt for you... or you need to put lots of efforts to...

 They're not difficult if you are good at Russian but also there is a problem that some of these scientists just copied the already discovered foreign (non-Russian) stuff.
A fan of science, philosophy and so on. :)
