Krabi, Thailand

A small province with a perfectly clean sea air, stunning scenery and excellent level of service - all these describe Krabi. The province of Krabi is an incredibly beautiful area in southern Thailand on the Coast of Andaman Sea. Lonely cliffs, palm trees, white sand beaches, small islands and crystal clear sea - all this makes an unforgettable Krabian impression. The place became a popular resort relatively recently. Krabi consists of more than 130 small islands, the most visited of which is the island of Phi-Phi. The name of Krabi derives from the river flowing here, which is translated as "Sword", obviously related to the shape of the channel.

The best time to travel to Krabi is since mid-November through April: at this time the weather pleases everyone with warm dry days, whereas, for example, from May to August, afternoon showers are quite often. However, if you are here for a short stay, they cannot spoil the rest to a considerable extent. Thus, a trip to the province is possible at any time: good weather prevails here almost all year round and allows visitors to fully appreciate the beauty of local nature. This tropical paradise is full of beautiful beaches and wild forests, and its landscape creates a real open air museum.

Primarily Krabi attracts tourists by its magnificent climate and pristine beauty of the places. Krabi beaches with the finest white sand, wooded mountains, caves, mangrove forests, hot springs and hundreds of small coastal islands - this combination of all the famous beauties of nature creates a breathtaking scenery. The layers of limestone together with their covering violent tropical vegetation form fantastic shapes. The limestone cliffs of Prananga known for their height and steepness are considered to be an international center for mountaineering since 1922. Krabi is also very popular with windsurfers. To a greater degree Krabi please those who like quite a relaxing stay. Here, everything creates an atmosphere to relax, achieve perfect harmony with yourself and the world. However, the province guests can also take a sea cruise, scuba diving, snorkeling in the crystal clear waters or go for a walk in the jungle of Krabi on an elephant.

Here everything literally breathes antiquity and natural beauty. To see this simply visit the famous town Susarn Hoi, the beach of which is formed by shells, fossilized 70 million years ago! However, the natural treasures of the province are not limited to these natural attractions only. Numerous sightseeing tours are offered to visit the national park Than Bokkoroni, where you can see the stunning waterfalls and small ponds with blooming lotuses. Also, you should pay a visit to the bay Pi-Le and Lo-Sa-Ma, which are considered to be great places for diving. Connoisseurs of ancient oriental culture probably will prefer seeing Chinese temple near the capital of the province or monastery Wat Tham Sua with its amazing figures of Buddha.

Numerous restaurants of Krabi, like everywhere in Thailand, represent a variety of traditional local dishes and international cuisine. Here you can enjoy original dishes with coconut and spicy curry sauce, the famous Tom Yum soup with lemon, delicious dishes with the freshest seafood and, of course, food and juices from the juicy tropical fruit.

Krabi holidays will be especially unique thanks to its wonderful hotels and high quality service. Your leisure can be organized in:

Khao Lak and Similian Islands
« Reply #16 on: June 15, 2012, 05:03:19 PM »

Khao Lak and Similian Islands

The coast of the Andaman Sea is famous for its magnificent beaches, unique tropical vegetation, the azure pure sea and rocky coves. One of the most picturesque places of the coast is the most secluded resort of Khao Lak, which is located in the province of Phang Nga. Khao Lak represents an endless expanse of mangroves, all sorts of diverse flora, beaches, covered with white sand, and a lot of hills covered with jungles. Khao Lak is a national park, surrounded by three national nature reservations.

Khao Lak becomes every day more and more popular among fans of eco-tourism and diving. Over the past few years there has been built several hotels, in design of which great attention was paid to all the features of this area in order not to disturb the natural environment and to provide travelers with the best conditions. Among them are:

JW Marriott Khao Lak Resort and Spa,
Takolaburi Cultural, Spa and Sport Resort,
Khaolak Emerald Beach Resort & Spa,
    Royal Bangsak Beach Resort,
    Khaolak Seaview Resort & Spa,
    Le Meridien Beach & Spa,
Apsaras Beach Resort & Spa, and a couple of more hotels.

Khao Lak is a young and rapidly developing resort, which is only a hundred kilometers far from Phuket. The "Raisin" of this resort is Similan Islands, located off the coast. This is a great place for diving, unlocking the secrets of coral reefs and underwater world.

The uninhabited Similan Islands are among the ten best and most beautiful islands in the world, giving scope for scuba diving and snorkeling. In these places animals still trust humans and are not afraid of them. On the islands there is a great variety of coral beaches, magnificent jungles, vast and majestic cliffs, and beautiful palm forests. You can even stay on this deserted island for an overnight, as there are several bungalows and a special camp here for that case.

Similan Islands make a whole range of nine rocky islands, which are washed by the azure waters of the Andaman Sea. The name of the islands derives from the Malay word "Sembilan", which is translated as the number nine, and means "nine islands". The islands have the status of National Park, and are under the protection of the laws of Thailand.

Similan islands are recognized as the best places in the world for diving. One of the most fantastic and mysterious features of these islands is the presence of two completely different types of ecosystems concentrated in one place.

The west coast of the island is famous for its underwater gardens. Observation of the inhabitants of reefs and swimming with the stream under the water along the coral gardens is one of the most popular activities in these places. At selected sites, underwater gardens of soft coral growths are found, which rise from the deep sea bizarre. Navigation and diving in these places does not cause complications, which gives everyone the opportunity to explore and study the underwater beauty of these places.

The northwestern part of Similan Islands, called "Donald duck bay", is a small sheltered beach, which is often used for night dives in order to monitor squid, cuttlefish, crabs and lobsters, which at this time appear in the open areas of sand looking for food. The south coast of this bay is called the "turtle head", where you'll encounter with hard and soft corals, and sea lilies.

Similan Islands' eastern side, known as "Bacon beach", is a coral reef, which stretches at the length of several hundred meters and has a huge accumulation of leaf-like and soft corals, also dead corals. The south-eastern side of the island, known as "the end of Bacon" is characterized by the fact that the coral reef in this area is gradually transformed into rock piles, where frequently barracudas, stingrays, tuna can be noticed.

Diving in the islands is allowed all year round, but the best time is from October to May, when the weather is especially fine and beautiful and the visibility reaches to more than forty meters.

The resort of Khao Lak with its wonderful Similian Islands is a real dream for eco-tourism lovers and fans of diving. Islands, sea, virgin nature and magnificent hotels - these make the main reason why Khao Lak is worth visiting.

American Samoa

Welcome to American Samoa - the unspoiled natural beauty of South Pacific Polynesia! Famed for its rich culture and easy Samoan lifestyle, this little known tropical island paradise delights travelers with its wildlife-rich woodlands, lush rain forests, breathtaking rugged coastal scenery, wonderfully peaceful bays, beautiful reefs, beaches and pristine marine sanctuaries. You can find a variety of accommodation options from the most expensive to the cheapest. Whether you are seeking a comfortable and practical location for a business trip or planning a romantic honeymoon, you will get an overall holiday experience with the highest standards of service in any of the American Samoa's hotels and return home with smiles and unforgettable memories.

American Samoa consists of two separate counties sharing a common history and identity, including the self-governing country of Western Samoa that is made up of 7 islands and American Samoa, administered and influenced by the USA since 1899, comprising 5 volcanic islands (Tutuila, Ta'u, Olosega, Aunu'u, Nu'utele) and two tiny remote atolls (Swain's and Rose Island). With a total area of 76.2 square miles, American Samoa lies about a hundred km to the south east of Apia (capital city of Western Samoa) at the heart of Polynesia, housing over 58,000 inhabitants. The country enjoys a tropical maritime climate moderated by southeastern trade winds and characterized by two seasons: the rainy season (November to April) and the dry season (May to October) with little seasonal temperature variation.

The dragon-shaped island of Tutuila, the largest of American Samoa's islands renowned for its steep coastline, beautiful mountains and some of the most dramatic scenery, is where the 95% of the islanders live. It is home to Pago Pago, the heartbeat capital of American Samoa, boasting one of the most picturesque and deepest natural harbors in the South Pacific. The harbor is all that remains of the volcanic crater that once created the island of Tutuila. What you will find in Pago Pago includes a couple of banks, a few dining options where you can have plenty of good meals, convenience stores and several hotels and inns, including the upscale Hotel Sadie Thompson Inn, the shabbiest Rainmaker Hotel and others. In the west part of Pago Pago Matafao Peak - the highest point of the island is found with a height of 653 meters. Tutuila is also home to the attractive Alega Beach surrounded by shelly blue waters safeguarded by dangerous outer reef, ideal for surfing (though it can be dangerous) and swimming. The beach is famous for its thriving Tisa's barefoot bar and the stunning Alega Beach Resort with the tropical rainforest as the backdrop.

Places of interest in American Samoa include:

The sublime Fagatele Bay National Marine Sanctuary is a submerged volcanic crater rich in coral and tropical fish located on Tutuila's southernmost point. Here you can explore the coastal paleo-tropical rainforest, inhabited by fruit bats and flying foxes. The bay is surrounded by steep cliffs, the edges of which serve as the nesting place of large seabirds.
Tula Village is another attraction on the northeastern tip of Tutuila, worth a visit where you will find a good beach to swim and laze out or else walk to beautiful Cape Mata'ula and Onenoa.
National Park of American Samoa is something you should not miss out. Blessed with gorgeous sandy beaches, pristine reefs, walking trails and lush rainforest, this protected area is where nature lovers will enjoy native birds and wildlife, snorkel and dive in the crystal clear blue waters.

From hiking along a summit trail high above Tutuila's centerpiece harbor to visiting traditional villages and archeological sites to sinking down on the warm sand of an uncluttered beach, your holidays in American Samoa will turn into an everlasting experience!
