And for the prices in Shanghai, admittedly the prices of the houses there highest, but the other prices are just okayishly high, like higher than avg but not to the degree like you will live a shitty life with 'only' two thousand dollars available in pocket per month here, if you have houses and cars.

What screws up Shanghaieses are just house loan and car loan. If you don't have house loan and car loan I think u are def even better than the majority of Shanghaieses.

Literally do never trust one's net asset he or she seemingly has. People are very likely to loan things like cars houses so that they seem to be very rich but their loans are off the table. Many Chinese have a 'foiable' that they like playing being very rich to others with tremendous loans screwing them up.
