As MSL said, who is really extremely well versed on Philosophy, Buddhism had good sides, as well as bad sides however.
Yeah the bad sides of it are:
1. The too extreme perception of human's desire so that Buddhists 'lie down and rot' because they think desire is totally negative and needs to be eliminated, but actually desire is a two-side sword. When you control it well, desire is your motivation of developments and the source of your happinesses. We should admit desire is one of human's natures and we should not go extreme about it. The really corret move is to admit it and not perceive it negatively but objectively and control it well.
2. Ingraining a Buddhist with some unproven things like 'Emptiness'.
3. 'Overtamizing' Buddhists, because in the perception of Buddhism, for ex, even if a guy punchs you at your face, which derives from his 'hateful heart', and you punch back, you will create bad karma thus you will get the 'justice', so Buddhists are excessively 'tamized' because they are afraid of the justices including getting to the hell after death. I remember Scythians even left Virūḍhaka genociding themselves because they thought if they fought back, they would create bad karma. It's extremely hilarious to common ppl of course, but to Buddhists, you can't fight back otherwise you are 'indulging' yourself.
4. Changing a Buddhist's lifestyle into one that mainly focuses on the 'practices' so that he or she can't 'strive for life'. No need to explain. When you spend like 95% of your time on the 'practices', how can you still 'strive for life'?
5. Being made use of as a tool of robbing people's money. This is one of the bad sides of a religion actually, not just Buddhism.
I was really lucky to encounter with MSL who elucidated to me the bad sides of Buddhism and some important things about Philosophy, otherwise I would've been still practicing with 95% of my time per day lol.
I am not negating Buddhism completely, but now I really don't advice anyone to learn Buddhism because it will really drive you to 'lie down and rot', if you are not smart enough.
The only good side of Buddhism imo is its ability of making you moral with telling you the reasons why you should do this and that things that are moral and making you stop indulging yourself(but yeah when you go too extreme, this good side will turn into a bad one), as well as some wisdoms which are actually not astonishing at all because actually the wisdoms of other philosophies are way more and way more astonishing, for ex now I love Cartesian Philosophy. Cartesian doubt is really scientific and analytical at their finest, while Buddhism can only teach you some unsurprising common knowledges like cause-and-effect.
If want to gain some wisdoms, I suggest learning other philosophies. Buddhism is now already 'mogged' into oblivion by other philosophies and even the philsophies of some philsoophers on this forum are better, like MSL's
.
